The control provides infinite variable speed for shaded pole and PSC motors. The maximum amps indicate that the rated motor nameplate amperage cannot exceed this rating, or else both the control and the motor will be damaged. To prevent stalling, the motor must be run with sufficient torque, as a motor that is not turning will burn up. Additionally, the motor must have a fan blade installed on the shaft (if it is a direct drive) in order to cool the motor. It is important to note that this control is not suitable for use with gear motors, and controls that have been installed cannot be returned. It is designed for a standard 2" x 4" electrical wall box and can handle up to 2.5 max amps at 115 volts. It is UL and CSA approved and should not be used with Capacitor Start or Capacitor Run Motors. This control is suitable for various applications including fans, blowers, fireplace blowers, attic fans, humidifiers, and ventilators.
